The Forbidden City
Posted by george on 27th October 2009
Today we visited the Lama Temple, reputed to be one of the finest Tibetan Buddhist temples outside of Tibet. Regretfully we were not allowed to photograph inside, where there were wonderful and very large statues of various Buddhas. In a central hall monks were chanting, and it was very very impressive.
Afterwards it was on to the Forbidden City, seat of the Ming and Qing emperors since construction began in 1406. The Great Courtyard in front of the Hall of Supreme Harmony was huge.
Tomorrow we’re to visit the Great Wall!
