Sweden - Open Skies Open Minds
Posted by george on 26th September 2007
After opening its Swedish Embassy in Second Life, the Swedish Institute has produced a film that in 4 minutes and 33 seconds is supposed to sell Sweden abroad. Called “Open Skies, Open Minds” and without dialog, it is supposed to be, according to the YouTube blurb, “a four minute long journey that takes you from north to south and gives you a glimpse of contemporary life in Sweden”. As I write, the YouTube clip has more than 2000 views in the day since its release, along with a 3-star rating, and a number of comments in Swedish wondering if it is worth the taxpayers’ money.
The film shows the sights of the country, and includes a lesbian kiss, but no mobile telephones. They are so common they are old-fashioned, Director Claes Britton tells the newspaper “Metro”.
