Little League Baseball in Sweden
Posted by george on 6th February 2007
I seem to have been appointed (or rather have been volunteered as) President of Little League Stockholm.
This is not as much as it might sound. Baseball is a rather small sport in Sweden, but the teams that exist are very active, especially youth activities.
The new affiliation with Little League seems to be Major League Baseball’s way of bringing Sweden (and probably other countries) into the international system that ends up sending teams to the Little League World Series every year.
Through Little League Stockholm our three local teams in Alby, Sundbyberg, and the Stockholm team in Skarpnäck, will be part of the national Little League structure.
Eight days before “pitchers and catchers report” in Arizona and Florida, and weeks before players here can practice outside…but it feels like baseball is starting up again.
