Ericsson Helps Turner Broadcasting Launch Mobile Services
Posted by george on 5th February 2007
Ericsson is working with Turner Broadcasting International to develop international mobile services. The first to launch will be a new CNN Mobile service in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa which starts on February 12.
Also coming are mobile access to the Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. The service is also being rolled out in Latin America.
Even if Jan Wäreby, head of Multimedia Ericsson, who presented the project at an online press conference Monday, comes from mobile phone maker Sony-Ericsson, the new service will be available on 3G phones from any manufacturer.
The new project will be unveiled next week at the 3GSM show in Barcelona. Mobile users will be able to watch individual news stories, with a searchable 14 day archive of more than 2000 stories.
The free service will be available at CNNmobile.com
In a press release Ericsson writes:
“The mobile services being developed include intelligent software that enables devices to show only the actual content that is appropriate to the particular handset, resulting in a richer user experience. The services will be rolled out to further territories and both Turner and Ericsson have committed to further product launches throughout 2007. “
