Apologies to the NMC Campus
Posted by george on January 29th, 2007

The photo (above) I used to illustrate the post about the planned Swedish Embassy in Second Life was a press photo from the Second Life site. It turns out that it is in fact the New Media Consortium’s NMC Campus.
Since there is no Swedish Embassy yet, I took what I could. Apologies to the NMC. Under the headline “Toto, We’re Not in Sweden Anymore” on their website they point out:
While NMC Campus has been and continues to roll out its expansion plans, we are not going quite as far as the photo suggests in a recent Boing Boing post reporting that Sweden is the first country to be building an embassy in Second Life…
.
And this photo is even dated as it does not show the new sims that are now available surrounding this, our original core campus built last year. While the museum, library, classrooms, amphitheater, and other facilities pictured here are actively used, there is no place to discuss diplomatic relations with Sweden.
.
To their credit of blog posting, the original report has taken what Linden Labs provides as a press photo, so we’re proud to be part of the PR for good things in Second Life.
Sorry folks, and thanks for not taking offence.

No offense at all! It was more fun than anything, especially to get Boing Boinged.
We love the notoriety and had a good round of internal emails, “We like Swedish meatballs and welcome our new Swedish overlords.”
