Sundbyberg Takes Game 1 in the Swedish Baseball Finals
Posted by george on 23rd September 2006
Will Rikards hit a walk off single in the bottom of the 9th, as home team Sundbyberg took game 1 of the best-of-five Swedish Elite Division finals against Leksand Saturday.
The game was very close, with Lekand drawing first blood in the top of the 2nd, and adding another run in the 3rd. Sundbyberg evened it up with single runs in the 3rd and 4th innings, and both sides scored a run each in the 5th.
Sundbyberg went ahead with 3 runs in the 6th, and Leksand caught up with three of their own in the 7th. The game remained tied until Rikards drove in Oliver Gajzler in the bottom of the ninth.
You can see the complete boxscore in the post below, taken from Sundbyberg’s excellent HeatStat site.
Sunday’s game in the best-of-five series starts at 10:00 hrs UTC, also in Sundbyberg. HeatStat will once again provide live online play-by-play, and I’ll have links here.
