Leksand vs Sundbyberg in Swedish Baseball Final

Leksand and Sundbyberg defeated their opponents in two straight matches in the Swedish Elite Division Baseball best of three semi-finals, making further play Sunday unnecessary. The two victors will meet in next weekend’s finals.
First place finisher Leksand beat fourth place Tranås 3–1 and 5–0 Saturday. Pitching was apparently the key. In the first game Leksand pitcher Mattias Stenis threw 14 strike-outs. Leksand’s Rickard Leander threw a shutout in game 2.
The other semi-final pitted the two teams that tied for second place, Sundbyberg from the north of Stockholm, and Karlskoga. Sundbyberg took both of Saturday’s games, 6–2 and 4–1.
The turning point of the first game came in the 8th inning when the umpire ruled that Karlskoga catcher Ryan Stewart missed home plate, which meant the score remained 3–1 instead of 3–2 had Stewart scored. Stewart was expelled from the game after disputing the call.
In the second game, Sundbyberg took a 3–1 lead in the first inning, and hung on to win 4–1.
Leksand and Sundbyberg meet in the finals for the fourth year in a row, the fifth finals appearance in a row for Sundbyberg. Leksand won the matchup last year.
