| The Conference for Lebanon’s Early Recovery has opened in Stockholm. Representatives from 60 countries and international organizations are on hand, and the hope is for pledges of USD 500 million for Lebanon’s immediate needs.

These include reconstruction of temporary shelter, schools, and hospitals while the real reconstruction goes on. The total cost of restoring the country’s homes, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges and other infrastructure after the 34 days of Israeli bombing is estimated at USD 3.6 billion.
The Stockholm conference is aimed at meeting immediate needs during reconstruction. Complete reconstruction will be taken up at a conference in Beirut at the end of the year. |
